In Toloriu, a village in the Catalan Pyrenees, there's a legend that tells of Xipahuatzin, the daughter of Aztec emperor Moctezuma, brought here by Baron Joan de Grau, who was a companion of Hernán Cortés during the Conquest of Mexico. Years after her arrival, the princess died of sadness, perhaps because she never got used to the cold winter of the mountains. I moved from Mexico to Spain three years ago. I decided to go and explore the place where the princess lived. At the same time I am discovering these mountains in the way the characters tell this story. The film deals with the human relationship in the space we inhabit. The place that we want to feel is ours; we fill it with meanings, memories, stories. What is the homeland, the land, the people, but a place within ourselves?
