Reusing Posidonia

The island of Formentera is surrounded by the largest Posidonia meadow in the world. It has taken 100 years for each stem to reach one metre long, and it can be pulled off in a few seconds by raising the anchor of a ship. This marine plant is the key to the island's ecosystem. It is the refuge of fish,  protection for the beaches, and also the secret of the blue of Formentera. When the plant changes its leaves, they accumulate on the beaches. The tourists don't want them there, so they have to be removed. Far from being considered garbage, they take advantage of it, as they did in the past, using the leaves as an insulating material for construction, as compost, or for making moisturizers. There are many stories that cross the island, and they are all united by the Posidonia. Formentera has the perfect size to achieve great changes. This documentary aims to be a brushstroke on new ways of life, making us more aware of what surrounds us, more respectful, more ingenious, and more human.
